For my A2 coursework, I independently organised shoots, filmed, directed and edited footage to create this music video. Before the A2 course, I had no experience in making a project that was on such a large scale, as well as filming with a DLSR camera. However, to ensure that I was satisfied with the overall result and the individual details, I researched into locations, lighting, fashion trends, camera techniques- anything that raise the quality of my final piece.
During the editing process, I used iMoive, After Effects, an online Gif maker and Photoshop.
I wanted to become fluent in using iMovie and I also wanted to see what sort of shots I would be able to achieve when it came to filming my own music video. Therefore in my own free time, I edited a pre-existing music video to a song that shared a similar vibe. I personally don't think that the results are spectacular, however, in hindsight, I can fully appreciate the level of understanding that I acquired when I created this small piece. I learnt that it is quite difficult to create a narrative while remaining aesthetically pleasing and that an overwhelming amount of different shots and shot types are required in order to reflect the rhythm of the song. The original music video can be seen here.
The footage for this short piece was filmed as a group and edited individually. The purpose of this project was to become familiar with the whole production process as many of us, including myself, had never used iMovie before. Link to the blog post here.
